Adirondack Fire Equipment was founded in 1972 By Ralph and Lena Chambers to provide firefighting equipment and new apparatus to the fire depts. in the Adirondack Mountains and surrounding areas of New York State and Vermont. The office was located in the town of Queensbury, next to the Bay Ridge firehouse where Ralph was an active member for over 30 years and a past chief .
They were successful until the mid 1990 ‘s when illness forced their retirement. One of their salespeople, Vincent Rusch, took over the operation of the company in 1997. At that time the office moved to it’s present location in Rotterdam, NY.
A dept asked Adirondack to sell an older truck for them and then they got a used ambulance to sell. Gradually the small equipment and new apparatus divisions were phased out and the company devoted itself exclusively to the sales of pre-owned apparatus and ambulances.
Today Adirondack sells pre-owned apparatus to fire and rescue organizations throughout the USA and Canada through a network of sales people and independent affiliated companies. Adirondack continues to grow as additional salespeople join the team.
